TH will perform detail engineering for quartz extraction plant in Central America

TH will supply detail engineering services on the design of a new quartz extraction plant in Central America. Its more than 50 years' experience in mineral beneficiation solutions and industrial minerals treatment plants were key in the awarding of the contract.

TH will prepare and develop a descriptive project with a flow diagram, implementation, list of equipment, specifications for bought-in equipment, construction plans for structures, plate-work and piping, calculations, mass balance models, detailed implementation planning, ancillary requirements and cost estimates.

TH's proposal seeks to attain two priority goals: to reduce water consumption compared to the customer's present plant and to increase the % of quartz recovered that meets the required specifications. Two initial feeding scenarios will be considered, with different crushing, washing and sorting processes and an integrated water management system based on filtration technology. This engineering work will enable to implement a beneficiation plant that will increase the amount of high-quality sand recovered and thus increase customer's incomes.
